April Wine to Rock Suncoast Showroom, 5/21
With 16 studio albums and numerous compilations to their name, April Wine's imprint on the rock music scene began in 1969 in Nova Scotia. The group enjoyed initial mainstream success with their second album "On Record," which received Gold status in 1972. The album's first single "You Could Have Been a Lady" topped the Canadian charts at #1 and remained on the U.S charts for 11 straight weeks, cracking the Top 30. The band continued to record hits throughout the '70s, including "Tonight is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love" and "The Whole World's Goin' Crazy," both of which reached #5 on the Canadian charts.
April Wine continued to rock well into the '80s with the release of 1981's "The Nature Of The Beast," the group's ninth and most successful album to date. Their hit single "Just Between You and Me" broke the Top 20 in the U.S. and remained on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 16 weeks. "Nature Of The Beast" went on to become an international success, selling more than 1 million copies and going Platinum in the U.S. and double-Platinum in Canada.
April Wine consists of original member Myles Goodwin on guitar, piano and vocals, plus Brian Greenway on guitar and vocals, Roy "Nip" Nichol on drums and vocals and Richard Lanthier on bass and vocals.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35 plus tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office, by calling 702.284.7777, or by visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
