Unicorn Theatre Presents GREEN WHALES
Unicorn Theatre will present the world premiere of Lia Romeo's new comedy, Green Whales, set to run on The Jerome Stage March 5th-28th. The play's central character, Karen, suffers from Turner's Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes her to look like a teenager. She is actually a 38-year-old philosophy professor who finds herself perpetually dateless. Her sister, Joanna, concocts an ill-advised scheme to find Karen's perfect match while simultaneously navigating her own tenuous relationship. Romeo, who has been deeply involved in Green Whales workshops and rehearsals, takes "laughing in the face of adversity" to a whole new level. This bizarre and funny love story is straight from the Unicorn's In-Progress New Play Reading Series last season. Green Whales is the final of three co-productions with UMKC Theatre this season. These co-productions allow for graduate student actors and designers to work alongside professionals. Past UMKC Theatre co-productions include Farragut North and Miss Witherspoon. Performances are Tuesday-Thursday at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. There will be a Saturday matinee at 3:00 pm on March 6th. Talk-back performances with the actors and director will follow the performances on March 9th, 14th and 16th. Tickets can be purchased online at www.unicorntheatre.org, by phone at 816-531-PLAY or at the box office.Cast and Creative Team
