Unicorn Theatre invites everyone to join us for An Evening in the Grey Gardens on November 15, 2009 from 6-10pm. This benefit for the Unicorn is themed around the upcoming production of the Tony award winning musical Grey Gardens playing January 27 through February 28, 2010 on the Unicorn's Mainstage. Grey Gardens is based on the 1975 documentary of the same name by Albert and David Maysles. The benefit will be held at Skyline Downtown Salon, located at 2001 Grand Boulevard on the 4th floor of the historic Firestone building in the Crossroads Art District. The evening will include an exclusive screening of the documentary and musical numbers from the show performed by Cathy Barnett and Kathleen Warfel. Barnett and Warfel will play the notorious mother/daughter duo of "Big" and "Little" Eddie Beale.

Tickets are just $85 and include heavy hors o'oeuvres provided by Californos and two drink tickets followed by a cash bar. A raffle, featuring a variety of items from the Unicorn and local supporters, will take place at 9:00pm. Dress is Unicorn casual (come as you are). Tickets can be purchased by contacting Unicorn's Development Director Geoff Gerling at 816-531-7529 x 12 or ggerling@unicorntheatre.org. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Unicorn asks that reservations be made before November 6th. More information and an online reply card can be found online at www.UnicornTheatre.org/event.htm.

Funds raised from this event will go to Unicorn Theatre's general operating fund, helping to ensure the 35 year old company can continue its mission of enhancing the cultural life of Kansas City by producing professional, contemporary, thought-provoking theater, which inspires emotional response and stimulates discussion. The Unicorn has a history of producing bold new plays never before seen in Kansas City with 20% of productions being world premieres. More information about the Unicorn can be found online at www.UnicornTheatre.org or by calling 816-531-PLAY.
