The Kansas City Chorale conducted by Charles Bruffy presents Fables, Stories, and Tales: March 17 & 19, 2019.

Favorite moments from literature are dramatically retold in soaring, beautiful settings featuring seven vignettes of Robert Frost in Thompson's Frostiana, a virtuosic setting of Petrassi's Book of Nonsense, and the poetry of Walt Whitman in Clausen's Leaves of Grass, along with songs inspired by nursery rhymes, folk tales, and literary masterworks.

We'll also present a selection of songs from our newest album, Artifacts: The Music of Michael McGlynn. The album explores the works of Irish composer Michael McGlynn, a remarkable collection of Chorale favorites and new works that deliver the movement and intimacy of a live performance. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day!

From Charles Bruffy: "Choral music is a wonderful way to bring the words from these fables and tales to life. I'm especially excited about the rarely-performed arrangement based on Edward Lear's Nonsense Madrigals and Randall Thompson's beautiful, moving setting of Robert Frost poems in Frostiana. It's going to be a pot pourri of styles and harmonies ... in other words FUN!
