The Coterie-Jewish Community Center Announces Auditions for its Production of NEWSIES

Wanted-young people ( and a few "mature" ones too) for the first regional production of Disney's popular musical "Newsies"!

This is a co-production of The Coterie Theatre and the White Theatre of the Jewish Community Center that will have a limited engagement July 2018 at the White Theatre.

All roles in Newsies are non-AEA (non-union). Some roles will be paid. The show begins rehearsal on June 5. Performances are July 7-29.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE A NEWSIE - Open call for ages 11 to young looking adults
Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2:00pm - OR - Monday, December 18, at 5:00pm
No appointment necessary. Check in one half hour prior.

• Bring one headshot and one resume.
• Have 16 bars prepared (print the music selection, PDF HERE).
• Then be prepared for an extended dance call (bring tap shoes if you have them). Some will be released as the call progresses.
• Prepare this monologue as you may be asked to perform it (PDF HERE, memorized optional).
• You may be asked to a callback on Monday, December 18, 2017.

AUDITIONS FOR PRINCIPAL ROLES - by appointment only for ADULTS 19 and older
Date choices: Sunday, December 17, 6:00-10:00pm OR Monday, December 18, 2:00-4:30pm

• By-appointment-only call for vocal auditions for principal Jack, Katherine, and ADULT roles in the show. Each appointment will be five minutes. Some will be invited to a separate vocal / reading callback on Monday, December 18, as well as a dance call for all potential Katherines. (Adult auditioners must be at least 19 years of age on December 17).
• Prepare to sing 16 bars of two contrasting Broadway songs. Songs from the show are acceptable.
• Bring one headshot and one resume.
