Acting Classes

Acting for Television and Film

Ages 13 and up
Tuesdays 4:25-5:25PM
September 14th - November 16th (No class on November 9th)
Performance November 23rd
Instructor: Jeremiah England
Tuition: $100

Attention future movie stars, television actors, commercial models, and Indie film hopefulls! Act One is offering an exciting new acting class that will teach you how to be a star on camera. From preparing for audition to nailing that first take, you will experience and learn the skills needed to succeed in front of the lense. This will be a fun and challenging class with lots of hands on practice using professional equipment. Each student will make their own audition tape and have a role in a group project to be shown at the recital. Having a video recording device for use at home is strongly encouraged for the class.

Dramedy: Journey Into the Mind of a Character
Ages 8-14
Tuesdays 4:25-5:25PM
September 14th - November 16th (No class on November 9th)
Performance November 23rd
Instructors: Mandy Armstrong & Brent Turner
Tuition: $100

For the performer who takes drama AND comedy seriously. In this class, learn how to really jump into a character. Whether it's a cold reading at auditions, an accident which happens onstage, or you want to learn how to make a character realistic in a show, this class is for you! We will focus on WHY characters are funny and/or serious, and how to break down the psychology of every part you play. And of course, we will play improv games and exercises to help grow your acting skills.

Dance Classes

Dear CT One Families,

You ASKED and we are answering! Welcome to the new ACT One Dance Classes. This year students will have a chance to commit to 8 months of dance lessons in a dance studio style class setting. Below is all the information you need. We will be ordering costumes and having a grand dance recital at the end of the school year. We hope to see you in class!

Beginning Dance I
Ballet & Jazz
Ages 5-8
(Students must be age 5 by recital performance date)
Mondays 5:00-6:00PM
September 13th - May 2nd

Instructor: Laura Cherrito
Tuition: $40 a month

Students will learn basic techniques of floor crossings and step combinations like "Fairy Runs", Jazz runs", and "Bunny Hops". This class will teach proper stretching techniques for students to apply at home as well. Students will learn a ballet dance and a jazz dance to perform in the Dance Recital.

Intermediate Dance II
Tap & Jazz/Hip-Hop
Ages 9-13
(Students must be age 9 by recital performance date)
Mondays 6:00-7:00PM
September 13th - May 2nd

Instructor: Laura Cherrito
Tuition: $40 a month

This class will focus on learning a new level of techniques for floor crossings and step combinations like "Jazz Squares", "Pique Turns", and "Grand Jete's". Tap steps and combinations will also be taught such as, "Shuffles", "Times Square Step", and more! In addition, the class will learn a tap dance and a jazz/hip-hop combination dance to perform in the Dance Recital.

Advanced Dance III
Tap & Choreography for Jazz and Modern
Ages 14-19
(Students must be age 14 by recital performance date)
Mondays 7:00-8:30PM
September 13th - May 2nd

Instructors: Laura Cherrito & Alicia Ewing
Tuition: $45 a month

The Advanced Class will be learning advanced steps and techniques for tap and will learn and perform a tap dance for the Dance Recital! Advanced floor crossings and leaps will also be taught. This class will also get the treat of learning to choreograph themselves. Instructors will give advice and practice techniques for choreography to different types of music in different styles of dance. Students will have a chance to choreograph with their fellow peers AND on their own. Two songs will be picked for students to choreograph a jazz dance and a modern dance too which will be performed in the Dance Recital.
