Technical Director - Ocala Civic Theatre

Ocala Civic Theatre, a professionally produced, community-driven theatre and one of the largest theatres in Florida, seeks a Technical Director to oversee all technical aspects of its production season, educational programming, rentals, and special events in a 352-seat proscenium theatre with full fly house/system.

Responsibilities
Oversee scenic construction, installation, and strike
Supervise rigging and fly system operations and safety
Develop production schedules and construction timelines
Interpret technical drawings and generate build plans/material orders
Manage production budgets and long-range season planning
Supervise technical staff, overhire crews, volunteers, and interns
Maintain theatre facilities, tools, equipment, and inventory
Collaborate with directors, designers, stage managers, and production staff
Support educational programming, camps, workshops, and student productions

Qualifications
BA/BFA in Technical Theatre or related field required; MFA preferred
Demonstrated experience in technical theatre and scenic construction
Strong knowledge of rigging, safety practices, and backstage operations
Strong project management, scheduling, and team leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple productions and deadlines simultaneously
Proficiency in Vectorworks and CAD software preferred
ETC lighting systems and QLab experience preferred
Experience working with community theatre volunteers strongly preferred

Additional Requirements
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended production hours as needed
Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights

Compensation: $49,000-$52,000/year
