Position Overview



Rockefeller Productions is a multi-faceted entertainment company that specializes in high quality family entertainment for the stage, screen, and immersive events for domestic and international markets.



Our productions include beloved characters from iconic properties such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Paddington Bear, That Golden Girls Show, Disney’s Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation, and Pixar Putt along with several major titles in development.



We are seeking a Touring Assistant Stage Manager with at least 2 years’ experience for a theatrical US tour launching as soon as Fall 2022. Theatrical touring experience is required. Rockefeller Productions requires all personnel to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.



The Assistant Stage Manager reports to the tour’s Producers and Production Stage Manager, manages all aspects on the touring stage production.



The Company consists of 15 members. The performance involves 6 x actors/puppeteers, plus 2 touring swings/puppet wranglers.



This is a non-union contract. Travel will be primarily by bus/van, with potential fly dates, if applicable. The tour’s physical production travels with one 53’ truck and merchandise. Schedule will shift on a weekly basis depending on rehearsal and performance calendar.



Shared hotel room and daily per diem provided by the Presenter/Producer.



Essential Job Functions



• Assist Production Stage Manager with all production needs during rehearsals, tech and performances

• Participate in all rehearsal and production meetings

• Supervise and direct local crew and touring crew during load in, performances, and load out

• Work directly with local venue Carpenters and crew to load in and strike the set

• Ensure all puppet and prop pre-show sets are completed

• Responsible for the calling the lighting focus

• Oversee/coordinate with the swings/puppet wranglers all puppet repairs on an as-needed basis

• Coordinate with Production Stage Manager and crew to prepare each venue for the arrival of the performers: setting up of dressing rooms, signage, backstage layout, safety concerns, and covid-19 requirements.

• Assist in the running of shows including preshow, performance, and post-show VIP meet and greet.

• In conjunction with the Production Stage Manager, facilitate the scheduling of performers in shows

• Oversee warm ups, rehearsals, put ins and make necessary adaptations required by venue idiosyncrasies

• During performance: perform daily setup and cleaning, assist in the maintenance of stage presets, assist in scenic changes and provide clear communication between the performers, calling SM and the crew

• Assist in costume changes as applicable

• Coordinate with Company Manager, Production Stage Manager, Head Carpenter and Puppet Wrangler around any technical maintenance needs

• Supervise truck pack during each load out

• Act as one of three Covid Safety Officers for the touring Company

• All other duties as assigned by Producer



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



• At least 2 years previous experience in Theatrical Assistant Stage Management

• Touring Experience highly preferred

• Ability to read, and interpret documents such as scripts, schedules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety manuals, as well as to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and the ability to solve practical problems and interpret diverse instructions.

• Experience working with and supervising local crews under IATSE union regulations preferred

• Understanding of theatrical terms and directions.

• Knowledge of and experience working with puppets preferred

• Valid US Driver’s License Required. Available for a shared drive of company van/vehicle if necessary.

• Experience running lighting board cues for performances,

• Must be able to problem solve in the moment

• Strong organizational skills

• Must have an adaptable personality

• Able to work varied hours

• Covid Safety Officer

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Salary:

$950-1000/week, depending on experience

The position is overtime exempt
