Australia's most famous musical export, The Ten Tenors, bring their lavish celebration of vocal power back to Gainesville on Tuesday, November 3 at 7: 30 p.m. with their Nostalgica World Tour 2009 - a rousing musical tribute from the land down under.

The internationally acclaimed singing sensation of The Ten Tenors have now been seen by more than 90 million people on four continents, selling out shows and winning hearts with their unmistakable charm, camaraderie and vocal power in opera, pop, rock and more.

They have appeared on ABC-TV's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition season finale as well as performing alongside such diverse artists as Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Alanis Morissette, Willie Nelson and Christina Aguilera to name but a few.

Says show musical director Graham Foote, "Nostalgica is not only a songbook journey through the hits of the 20th century by the artists that made them great, but also a trek through The Ten Tenors decade-long history - "A greatest hits tour with a twist."

Their CD One Is Not Enough reached the Top 10 on the European pop charts and they were invited by Disney to record the theme song Jungle Rhythm for the film Jungle Book 2 (2003). They have been awarded Best Artist Pop Meets Classics Award by the Radio Hamburg Awards and received the Variety Group of the Year Award at the 29th Annual Australian Entertainment MO Awards. They have achieved multi-platinum status for both their DVD's and CD's in countries around the globe.

During their 2006 U.S. tour, The Ten Tenors left critics raving. The Los Angeles Times proclaimed, "The cluster of high voices generates pure electricity and undeniable drama." Arizona Daily Star declared, "Its breathtaking listening to these 10 crystalline voices come together as if they were one." And Daily Variety announced, "They are truly incandescent when performing at the full strength of 10."

University of Florida Performing Arts does more than entertain. It breaks down walls. It breaks down the walls between people by increasing cultural awareness through programming that attracts artists and audiences from around the globe. It breaks down the wall between patron and performer with educational programs such as master classes, artist residencies and pre- and post-performance discussions. It breaks down the wall between health and illness with AIM Together, a collaborative program between UFPA and Shands HealthCare that brings world-class performing artists to those who are hospitalized. It breaks down the wall between idea and realization by commissioning and nurturing new work. Art doesn't have walls. But sometimes life does. UFPA breaks down the walls, enriching the lives of the citizens in the Heart of Florida, helping to make Gainesville "the #1 place to live."
