A period romantic drama based on the story of the greatest stage star of the seventeenth century in Britain. He is fiendishly talented, extremely handsome and has bewitching personal charm. Every night, Kynaston wears dresses, puts on make-up and portrays women in a world where women are forbidden to go on stage.

When the English king issues a revolutionary edict allowing women to act in the theatre, the star loses everything. He tries to portray men, but his acting is too effeminate. In this new world, Maria, his dresser, who constantly followed him backstage, becomes the star.

A modern play about opposites, masculinity and femininity, masks and reality and the desire to act in life and live in acting. The elegant, witty English play, daring and sexy, written by Hatcher, was made into the renowned film "Stage Beauty" in 2004 and is now performed on the Israeli stage for the first time at the Gesher theatre.
