Yesterday, April 4, Juliano Mer Khamis, an Israeli-Arab actor, director and activist, was killed at 52 in a small town in the West Bank where he ran a drama school, the AP first reported. According to Jenin police chief Mohammed Tayyim, Khamis was shot five times by one or more militants. No arrests have been made or charges filed to date.

Tony nominated and Academy Award-winning playwright, Sir Ronald Harwood, is the 2011 Yael Levin Writer-in-residence lecturer, and will be a guest of Tel Aviv University's Department of English and American Studies from 20-24 March. Harwood will be holding a large public lecture in Tel Aviv University, on the 24th of March, 5 PM. The lecture will center on his latest play 'Collaboration' which is a powerful dramatization of the artistic and political 'collaboration' between author Stephan Zweig and musician Richard Strauss during the time of the Third Reich.

The Pixies are an American alternative rock band that formed in Boston in 1986. The group disbanded in 1993 under acrimonious circumstances but reunited in 2004. Black Francis (lead vocals and guitar), Joey Santiago (guitar), Kim Deal (bass), and David Lovering (drums) have been the band's continual members. While the Pixies found only modest success in their home country, they were significantly more successful in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe, although never achieving mainstream success with their studio albums.

Due to the withdrawal of two lead performers in the crew of TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS, Israel Musicals has made the difficult decision to postpone. The productions pianist has had to return to Prague for personal reasons, and one of the singers has also withdrawn due to health issues. Israel Musicals wish them both well and hope to be on stage together again in the future.
