Some of the world's leading classical musicians will gather in Jerusalem Sept. 1-5 for the 28th Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, featuring seven performances at the historic YMCA Hall.
Under the artistic direction of acclaimed pianist Elena Bashkirova, this year's festival will bring together musicians from Israel and around the world for a program spanning centuries of classical music.
A highlight of the festival will be Mozart's 'Gran Partita,' conducted by Maestro Daniel Barenboim, alongside works by Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Messiaen and other renowned composers.
'We truly believe that familiar masterpieces and new discoveries enrich one another, giving the festival its unique character and reaffirming the unique power of chamber music,' said Elena Bashkirova, artistic director of the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival. 'We are proud that our audiences embrace both with curiosity and enthusiasm.'
'Jerusalem is a city where history, culture and creativity come together, and this festival is a wonderful example of that,' said Lorin Maugery, Consul Director for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, United States Southern Region. 'For visitors, it offers a unique opportunity to experience world-class music while exploring one of the world's most extraordinary cities.'
The festival will feature internationally acclaimed performers, including pianists Elena Bashkirova and Denis Kozhukhin, violinists Fedor Rudin and Tatiana Samouil, cellists Astrig Siranossian and Ivan Karizna, clarinetist Pablo Barragán, soprano Dorothea Röschmann and baritone Thomas E. Bauer.
