WAITING FOR GODOT Returning to Smock Alley Theatre

After its huge success last summer, Waiting For Godot returns to Smock Alley Theatre for one week only before embarking on tour to Rio De Janeiro and Brasilia, supported by the Arts Council, Culture Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, to celebrate the 40th year of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Brazil.

A country road. A tree.

Evening.

Vladimir and Estragon wait endlessly for the arrival of Godot, discussing religion, contemplating suicide and crotch rot in a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes and nonsense.

A tragicomedy in Two Acts - Beckett's play pioneered an expressionistic minimalism that captured the existential post World War II Europe and man's inexhaustible search for meaning.

Patrick Sutton's production of Beckett's masterpiece Waiting for Godot opened at Smock Alley in July 2014 to rave reviews and overwhelmingly positive audience feedback. It returns now to the atmospheric and historic setting of Smock Alley, Dublin's Oldest Newest Theatre, with tours of the building included in the ticket price, running one hour before each performance. There is also an option to dine in the theatre's magnificent Banquet Hall with Smock Alley's popular "Dinner & A Show" offer on either Thursday or Friday evening.
