Theatre Lovett Presents The Girl who Forgot to Sing Badly, Begins Oct 4

The Ark on Tour with Theatre Lovett Acclaimed production for young audiences takes to the road this autumn. The Ark, in association with Theatre Lovett, presents The Girl who Forgot to Sing Badly, Written by Finegan Kruckemeyer, Directed by Lynne Parker, Performed by Louis Lovett
From 9th November the production will tour to:

The Riverbank, Newbridge; Dunamaise Arts Centre, Co Laois; Glór, Ennis; The Mermaid, Bray;
George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow and Backstage Theatre, Longford.

Prior to the national tour commencing the production will be performed (from 4th Oct) in The Civic Theatre, Tallaght; Draíocht Arts Centre, Blanchardstown and The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children, Temple Bar as part of ReViewed in the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival a showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Irish Theatre Institute.

Sometimes it takes a girl sized human to solve an adult sized problem.

Peggy O'Hegarty and her parents are packers. They squeeze fruit into tins, foxes into boxes, even bikes into brown paper bags. And all the while Peggy sings with the voice of an angel - a grossly unfortunate angel, who can't sing at all. But one day work stops working, and the jobs stop coming, and Peggy steps outside to find winter has arrived... and everyone in her city gone!
Ingenious performer Louis Lovett leads the audience on an untamed adventure that crosses snowy lands and wild seas. As Peggy desperately tries to save the day, we learn about love, loss, the reassurance of goats, and the courage to sing gloriously on or off-key.

The Girl who Forgot to Sing Badly premiered at The Ark in Jan 2010 as part of the first ever theatre-maker in residence initiative which sees Louis Lovett spending part of the year working with The Ark. Louis has a long association with The Ark as a writer, director and actor, having performed over 500 times on The Ark stage. He is also one of Ireland's most experienced performers for young people and his work crosses over both theatre for adults and theatre for young people.
