The Everyman Celebrates Autumn Season Launch

The Everyman Celebrates Autumn Season Launch ImageAfter an unexpectedly long hot summer, the Everyman prepares to welcome fresh and crisp autumn evenings, perfect for a night at theatre!

Reflecting on the busy season gone by, Artistic Director Julie Kelleher said: "I want to take a brief moment to thank everyone for the tremendous support shown to the venue over the summer, and in particular the support shown to home-grown productions like Asking for It and The Lonesome West. To see people coming to the theatre in such numbers and having such powerful responses to what is on stage is really what makes the hard work worth it."

The theatre is rounding out a bumper year of Everyman productions with the world premiere staging of John O'Brien's brand new opera The Nightingale and the Rose, a stunning new opera based on Oscar Wilde's timeless short story. This promises to be a magnificent and memorable experience for both opera aficionados and novices, so make it a red letter day in your calendar.

In December, everyone's favourite theatre tradition returns: the annual Christmas panto! Bring the family along to the fairytale of all fairytales: Cinderella. Rally your pumpkins, get your glass slippers on, and be home by midnight after a very special night at the ball!

As ever, the Everyman strives to bring you the highest quality and most varied programme of live entertainment as possible. The new brochure is jam packed with fantastic nights out for whatever tickles your fancy. Enjoy brilliant stand-up comics and live music shows: Deirdre O'Kane, Colin Murphy, Waterford Whispers News Live, Jack L, David O'Doherty, Des Bishop, Jason Byrne, The Johnny Cash Roadshow, Eddi Reader, Chris Kent, and many more. The venue becomes festival central in October and November as it plays host to electric events like the Cork Jazz Festival and Cork Film Festival. Opera lovers will be spoiled for choice this season, as along with the Everyman's production of The Nightingale and the Rose, they'll have two visits from Irish National Opera with The Tales of Hoffmann in September and Orfeo ed Euridice in February.

The Everyman is breaking new ground and hosting thrilling performances from top notch Irish dance and theatre artists Junk Ensemble (Soldier Still), Philip Connaughton (Assisted Solo), Talking Shop Ensemble (Rapids), Louise White (This is the Funeral of your Life) and For The Birds (Seahorse); and maintaining tradition by bringing you the best in touring theatre with titles such as: Marina Carr's The Mai, The Collector, James Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Fly Me To The Moon, Charlie's a Clepto, Maeve Binchy's Light a Penny Candle and the return of the much-loved musical sensation Menopause the Musical next Spring.

Speaking at the launch of the Autumn Programme, Executive Director Seán Kelly commented: "2018 has proven to be one of the busiest and most exciting in the Everyman's long history. We have produced and co-produced more work than ever before, our productions are larger in scale and embark on longer runs, smashing all previous box office records. There are even more exciting shows to come and we really believe that our audiences will love them. We are deeply grateful to those much-valued audiences and partners who have shown us such incredible support to make all of this possible and we look forward their company this autumn." Sean Kelly, Executive Director at the Everyman
