Paul Brady Returns to Wexford Opera House 4/28

By: Apr. 15, 2010

With a new album, and plenty of fire in his belly, Paul Brady returns to Wexford Opera House for the second time to give what promises to be a lesson in musical mastery. All who were lucky enough to secure tickets to see Paul Brady over the course of last year's tour where he showcased the odd tune from his new album, "Hooba Dooba", will attest to how mesmerising this maverick of the Irish folk and contemporary music scene can be.

Always the musician's musician, Paul Brady can consider the likes of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison as some of his most fervent fans. Lauded by critics, Niall Stokes from Hot Press Magazine had this to say about Paul Brady's newest album:

"Hooba Dooba, his first album since 2005's "Say What You Feel", is an ambitious record. It deals in the big themes: love, faith, destiny, money, politics and death. But more than that, perhaps, it is a craftman's tour de force, a vibrant statement of songwriterly intent from an artist who has achieved a mastery of the grammar of popular music and is capable of marrying that to fine lyric writing and superb musicianship."

In the past few years Paul has been honoured with lifetime achievement awards from IRMA (Irish Recorded Music Association), The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, and BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards. Continuing to tour extensively both as a solo performer and with his own band, he has forged a reputation as a passionate and exciting performer and attracts a dedicated following worldwide. Paul Brady continues to push out the boundaries, not only of his own talent but of Irish contemporary music in the new millennium.

See Paul Brady playing solo for one intimate night of outstanding music at The O' Reilly Theatre, Wexford Opera House on Wednesday April 28th at 8.00pm, all tickets €37.50. Tickets available online at www.wexfordoperahouse.ie or by calling the box-office at 053 912 2144. No booking fee applies.
The Sky View Café will be open for refreshments before the show from 7pm to 8pm.
