DAVID COPPERFIELD, THE CAVALCADERS Set for Roscommon Arts Centre, Oct 2013

London based theatre company Hotbuckle Productions return to Roscommon Arts Centre tonight 15th October with their adaption of the much loved Charles Dickens novel 'David Copperfield'.

Young David's sheltered life with his doting mother is thrown into turmoil when she marries the ruthless Murdstone. Forced into an uncaring world of poverty and hardship, David must work out whom to trust if he is to grow into the man he should become. Gently guided by his closest friend Agnes and his eccentric aunt Betsey Trotwood, can David stay on his true path? David Copperfield has remained in the hearts of readers for generations.

Capturing the haunting beauty of the Yarmouth coast and bustling Victorian London, Hotbuckle use their distinctive style to tell the beloved story of Dickens' favourite child as only they know how. Tickets are available through Roscommon Arts Centre's box office on 090 6625824 or online at www.roscommonartscentre.ie.

'The Cavalcaders' written by Wexford playwright Billy Roche comes to Roscommon Arts Centre Wednesday 23rd - Saturday 26th October. The cast includes lots of familiar faces including Liam Heffernan who recently starred as Luke in Fair City and Dermot Murphy who starred in Raw. The production is a Nomad Theatre Network production in association with Galway-based Decadent Theatre Company and Roscommon Arts Centre is delighted to play host as Opening Venue for the tour this autumn.

'The Cavalcaders' explores the lives and loves of a community of characters in small-town Ireland. Set in an old-fashioned cobbler's shop, this is the story of a group of men who spend their days mending shoes and their nights as a barbershop quartet and singers of local legend. Their musical harmonies, however, are not reflected in their private lives. It is a wonderful play that explores the complexity of human relationships. With live music and a beautiful musical score, the play is both moving and entertaining as Billy Roche examines how men relate to men and to women.

The Cavalcaders will be performed at Roscommon Arts Centre Wednesday 23rd - Saturday 26th October. Tickets are available from the box office on 090 6625824 or online at www.roscommonartscentre.ie.
