Anne Rigney Exhibition Opens At Roscommon Arts Centre

By: Aug. 03, 2011

Anne Rigney works on exhibit from 3rd August - 11th August at The Gallery, Roscommon Arts Centre

Opening: Wednesday 3rd August 7.00pm - 8.30pm- All Welcome

Anne is originally from Westmeath but has lived in Knockcroghery, county Roscommon for the last 28 years, where she works from her studio. The work for this exhibition is comprised of 25 mixed media works of oils, acrylics, pastel and watercolours. Anne's subject matter is influenced by the ever changing colours of the Roscommon landscape.

"The images that interest me most are things in transition, be it a decaying Autumn leaf or a reflection in a pool of water. Life is constantly changing and we are all part of this flux. With change we either adapt or suffer. The process of letting go can be painful but with change comes new beginnings.

I take something from nature and transform it -into something else, something new, sometimes recognizable, sometimes not. Sometimes a painting has a life of its own and one just follows, one colour after another. One is surprised with the final result." Anne Rigney

Anne has exhibited extensively in Ireland and her work has also been shown in Scotland, Germany, Poland and America. Anne is delighted to be exhibiting at the Roscommon Arts Centre of which she was, as part of Working Artists Roscommon instrumental in bringing the facility to Roscommon.

Viewing during centre opening hours. All are welcome.
