AboutFACE Ireland Seeks Submissions for 2017 NEWvember New Plays Festival

AboutFACE Ireland are very happy to announce they are now accepting submissions of new plays from playwrights based in Ireland, and Irish playwrights around the world, for the 2017 NEWvember New Plays Festival Dublin, to be held over four days November 16th to 19th at Belvedere House in Dublin's city centre. The closing date for submissions is Friday June 23rd 2017.

The final plays will be selected based on their originality, range, production potential, narrative quality and emotional resonance, and will be announced in October. AboutFACE are delighted that NEWvember 2017 is supported by Dublin City Arts Office.

This new Dublin festival of rehearsed readings of new plays will follow the same format as the hit NEWvember Festival that AboutFACE co-created and co-produced at the Carpenter Shop Theatre in the village of Tivoli in upstate New York, with partners Tangent Theatre, for 6 years 2011-2016, with there being no fee for submissions and all plays being read blind of name or gender by a panel. The spirit of NEWvember is to provide a dynamic, interactive and comfortable place where writers can hear their plays read by professional actors and discuss their work and creative process. NEWvember New York has been highly successful - drawing large audiences, including breaking the box office record for the venue on successive nights; and finding massive interest from writers - by its sixth year, submissions reached nearly 500 plays a year and rehearsed readings of new work by over 30 playwrights had been presented, while several plays developed at the festival have gone on to Off-Broadway and regional American productions. AboutFACE is excited to now bring the NEWvember format to Dublin, and look forward to crossover opportunities with their New York partners in the future.
