Special industry presentations of INTENTIONS, a new play by Dorothy Marcic, are set for today (Thursday) at 1 & 4 pm at Pearl Studios (519 Eighth Avenue).

INTENTIONS begins 25 years after an Iranian husband takes his young daughter to Iran, where his American wife cannot enter. The play opens in the U.S. with the mother and daughter seeing each other for the first time since the daughter disappeared. When the father arrives, the mother wants to confront her ex while he tries to justify his actions. What follows is the unfolding of layers of betrayals on both sides, with both mother and father maneuvering to "win" the daughter.

Under the direction of Kirsten Sanderson (CARNIVAL KNOWLEDGE, LITTLE FISH, FIRST DAUGHTER SUITE), INTENTIONS will star Michele Pawk (CABARET; CRAZY FOR YOU; HOLLYWOOD ARMS, Tony Award), Amr El-Bayoumi ("House of Cards," "Mister Robot," "Person of Interest") and Sohailla Mahjour (RAGHS).

Writer Dorothy Marcic created the hit musical SISTAS, the longest-running African American musical in New York history, as well as this season's musical hit THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS. Her first musical RESPECT (the genesis for THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS) played in over 70 U.S. cities. Dr. Marcic is a professor at Columbia University, a former Fulbright Scholar and author of 15 books including MANAGING WITH THE WISDOM OF LOVE, RESPECT: WOMEN AND POPULAR MUSIC, LOVE LIFT ME HIGHER, and the upcoming true-life thriller WITH ONE SHOT. The special industry readings of INTENTIONS are being presented by William Franzblau.
