Feature: Meet the Five CAMP BROADWAY INDONESIA Students Performing at Carnegie Hall This May After an audition process followed by additional workshops at Teater Ismail Marzuki, the five Camp Broadway Indonesia students chosen to be delegates are ready to embark later this month. They will represent Indonesia at The New York Pops Orchestra's 40th Anniversary Gala alongside Broadway and international performers. The concert will take place at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, New York City, and will celebrate the life and career of American music icon Barry Manilow.

Camp Broadway Indonesia (CBI), a licensee of Camp Broadway New York, is managed by PT Asa Pentas Mahakarya and PT Indolima Perkasa. CBI provides performing arts training for kids, youths, and adults.

The New York Pops program is their first event and led by Adit Marciano (artistic director of CBI) and facilitated by Viviana Uribe (director of development and strategy), Bernice Nikki (vocal director), and Nala Amrytha (choreographer). Furthermore, the selection process was advised by Susan E. Lee (founder of Broadway Education Alliance) and Theo Lencicki (director and choreographer of Camp Broadway Ensemble New York).

At a press conference held at Taman Ismail Marzuki on April 15th, 2022, the CBI team alongside the five representatives shared their experience and hope for The New York Pops Gala. The students are excited to represent Indonesia at the world stage and are still preparing for their upcoming performance.

"Camp Broadway Indonesia is deeply honored to bring five talented Indonesian youths to perform alongside the famed American star Barry Manilow. We hope that this moment will motivate other Indonesian children passionate in dancing, singing, and acting," said Adit Marciano. Adit will wear an outfit designed by Indonesian fashion designer R.M. Radinindra Nayaka Anilasuta at the Gala.

The five selected students are:

  1. Jane Callista (15)

An award-winning singer-songwriter with more than 200.000 followers on Instagram, Jane found her love for singing and performing at a young age. Her mother enrolled her in various vocal classes to nurture her budding talent. Jane has joined many singing competitions, including Indonesian Idol Junior and The Voice Kids Indonesia.

In 2018, she launched This is Jane, her first album; a majority of the songs were written by Jane herself. She has also won multiple international competitions, including World Grand Prix Asia Pacific Arts Festival, Sanremo Junior World Finals, and the Alice Artemis Vigano Award. In 2022, she also held a solo mini-concert titled The Sky and I.

  1. Rania Salsabila Azzahra (15)

A model, singer, and philanthropist, Rania first came to prominence as one of the Gadis Sampul 2020, a modeling contest for youth models held by women's publication GADIS. Rania later won the distinction of being the Gadis Sampul Favorit 2020. She's also the face of HighEnd magazine's December 2022 issues.

In 2021, Rania founded See for Care, a philanthropy organization working for the betterment of "Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, Art & Culture" in Indonesia. In the performing arts, Rania has released a couple of singles, the latest being Surga Cintaku, which she dedicated to her parents.

  1. Asira Shifa Widiarto (16)

Asira is a student, singer-songwriter, poet, and peace ambassador. As a musician, Asira has released two original singles: By Yourself and Disney Princess. By Yourself tells Asira's journey in finding her confidence and the effort that goes into it. Meanwhile, Disney Princess is a bittersweet song about betrayal and how the singer can no longer be an idealized Disney princess anymore.

In October 2022, Asira performed at the 20th Commemoration of the Bali Bomb Tragedy, held by Indonesia's National Terrorism Counter Agency, where she was appointed as an Honorary Ambassador for Peace. Academically, she is the third runner-up of BOBNAS SEMPOA, a national abacus competition.

  1. Hitadewi Abhassara (14)

A performer, singer, dancer, instrumentalist, and musical actor, Hita plays a wide range of musical instruments, including the keyboard, saxophone, drums, and violin. In 2020, Hita won first place at the musical competition Simfoni Anak Bangsa "Gempita Nusantara" in the teen category, held by Grand Metropolitan Mall
The New York Pops Gala is not the first time that Hita will represent Indonesia on a world stage, as she was also one of the delegates for the Mid-Autumn Cultural Exchange Indonesian Festival in China.

  1. Cittadewi Abhassara (12)

Hita's younger sister as well as the youngest student to be selected, Citta is a vocalist and performer. Citta has previously performed alongside Hita, in events such as Chinese New Year Celebration 2020 at Neo Soho.

For her vocal prowess, Citta won Royal Academy second place at the Solo Singing Competition, representing Tzu Chi International School. She also performed at Mid-Autumn Cultural Exchange Indonesian Festival in China as one of the Indonesian delegates.
