Theatre at the Center Presents DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS 9/9-10/10

The uproarious musical masterpiece, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, by composer and lyricist David Yazbek and librettist Jeffery Lane, makes its Regional premiere at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, IN, September 9 through October 10. The press performance will be Thursday, September 16 at 8 p.m. The Tony Award Winning smash hit consistently delivers; Clive Barnes of the New York Post raves DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is "A knockout punch to Broadway's funny bone! One of the liveliest, funniest, best-performed musicals in years. Super-smart and superior in every way." This production will be directed by Bill Pullinsi and choreographed by Stacey Flaster.

Based on the popular 1988 MGM film, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS centers on two con men living on the French Riviera - the suave and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson, who makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money; and a small-time crook named Freddy Benson, who, more humbly, swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. So they make a bet: the first one to swindle $50,000 from a young heiress, Christine Colgate, triumphs and the other must leave town. What follows are a series of schemes, masquerades and double-crosses in which nothing may ever be exactly what it seems.

DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, features a dynamic, Tony Award nominated score of lively and memorable numbers including: "Give Them What They Want," "What Was a Woman to Do," "Great Big Stuff," and "Dirty Rotten Number." The 2005 Broadway Production of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS earned 11 Tony Award Nominations, winning the award for Best Actor in a Musical.

The all-star cast of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS includes Larry Wyatt as "Lawrence Jameson", Michael Mahler as "Freddy Benson", Dana Cameron as "Christine Colgate", Larry Adams as "Andre Thibault", Paula Scrofano as "Muriel", Lauren Creel as "Joleen" and ensemble members Robert Deason, Jenny Guse, Bobby Johnson, Alex McCrary, Cara Salerno, Megan Simmons, and Stephen Stockley.

Joining Director Bill Pullinsi and Choreographer Stacey Flaster, will be Musical Director Bill Underwood. The design team for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is Scenic and Lighting Designer Christopher Ash, Costume Designer Brenda Winstead, Wardrobe Supervisor Alice Broughton, Wig Designer Kevin Barthel, Props Designer Libby Fandrei and Sound Designer Cecil Averett. The Stage Manager is Rebecca Green.

Founded in 1991, Theatre at the Center is a year-round professional theater at its home, The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. Theatre at the Center is conveniently located off I-80/94, just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago, and has free parking.
