Phoenix Theatre Presents NORTH OF THE BOULEVARD, Now thru 3/9

By:

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the Regional premiere of Bruce Graham's North of the Boulevard. Opening tonight, February 13, 2014 in the Frank and Katrina Basile Theatre at the Phoenix, this show runs through March 9, 2014 and will be directed by Phoenix Theatre Producing Director Bryan Fonseca.

North of the Boulevard received great reviews during its World Premiere at Theatre Exile in Philadelphia (PA) last spring. A blue-collar comedy about the tragedy of living in poverty while chasing the American dream, the play follows three childhood friends and a cantankerous old man as they struggle to make sense of their dead-end lives.

"This is a perfect play for the Phoenix. Set in 2008. North of the Boulevard transports the audience to when we thought the economy couldn't get any worse," states Producing Director Bryan Fonseca. "We produce risky and challenging plays that contain a sense of grit and passion, and that certainly describes North of the Boulevard."

In a time when the gulf between the "haves" and "have-nots" continues to grow, enter this gritty blue-collar comedy set in a decaying garage where four men struggle to keep their piece of the American dream alive. When a chance event gives them the opportunity to escape their crumbling neighborhood, ethics may have to take a backseat to prosperity.

Tickets for North of the Boulevard are on sale now. The entire first weekend are CheapSeats performances, so tickets are just $18.00 per person. All performances after that are $28.00 per person, or $18.00 for anyone 21 & under.
