New Board Member Slate Announced for Madame Walker Theatre Center

Many changes have taken place at the Madame Walker Theatre Center within the last year. A new full time staff, new programs, an increase of rentals and events and now a new slate of officers announced for their Board of Directors. Joni Collins, President of ResourcePlus, Inc., has been elected incoming board chair for the next term.

ResourcePlus, Inc. is a consulting firm that specializes in working with not-for-profit organizations and small businesses providing expertise in key critical areas to build organizational capacity to ensure stability and sustainability.

Collins has held executive positions with Old National Bank, Charter One Bank, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership.
Christopher Barney will remain Chair of the Board until July 1, 2011. After appointing a dynamic new President and helping the Walker reach a level of financial stability, Christopher Barney is happy to pass the baton along to Collins while continuing to support the organization. "I am excited about the direction in which the Madame Walker Theatre Center is transcending. With very capable leadership in place, the Walker will continue to thrive and maintain its strong historic value for the city of Indianapolis," explains Barney.

Also changing position within the Board of Directors are Shannon Williams and Sharnell Johnson. Shannon Williams, Publisher and President of The Indianapolis Recorder will become Board Secretary, while Sharnell Johnson, Director of Finance for Ivy Tech Community College, will become Board Treasurer. RoBert Reed, President of RCR Technology will remain Board Vice-Chair.
