The NCPA will present Symphony Orchestra of India’s 14th Celebrity Season in February 2012, at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA. This Season, will feature a special concert in which tabla maestro Zakir Hussain will perform The Melody Of Rhythm: Triple Concerto with banjoist Bela Fleck and double bassist Edgar Meyer. The season will also include performances of Beethoven’s 4th and 7th symphonies and Saint-Saëns 3rd violin concerto performed by SOI Music Director Marat Bisengaliev. The concerts will then be taken to Oman where two performances featuring these artistes and the SOI will be held. The concert dates for the rest of the Season will be shared at a later date.
An all-Beethoven concert, with the less performed yet dramatic middle period 4th symphony coupled with the famous 7th symphony. The Coriolan overture was composed for a play by Heinrich Joseph von Collin and premiered at the same concert as the 4th symphony in 1807.
