The Stages Rep presents the Southern classic STEEL MAGNOLIAS, opening this week, and the regional premiere of LIFE COULD BE A DREAM continues through September 2.

Stages produces Robert Harling’s touching story based on the author’s true life experience of losing his sister. Houston’s most beloved actresses take the stage for a summer production of the enormously popular play, first produced Off-Broadway in 1987, adapted to the iconic film in 1989, and produced on Broadway in 2005.

Written in 1987, this bittersweet American classic was adapted to the iconic film in 1989. Now Stages revisits these irresistible, unforgettable Southern women in a once-in-a-lifetime event showcasing a dream ensemble of Houston performers including Sally Edmundson, Susan Koozin and Holland Vavra Peters. This limited engagement is 4 weeks only!

LIFE COULD BE A DREAM

From the creator of THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES AND THE ANDREWS BROTHERS, Stages presents the regional premiere of LIFE COULD BE A DREAM. Premiering at the Hudson Theatre in the summer of 2009, LIFE COULD BE A DREAM won three LA Drama Critics Circle and three Backstage Garland awards, and it was named LA Weekly’s Musical of the Year.

Head back to Springfield High and meet the Crooning Crabcakes (the boys banned from the Marvelous Wonderettes' prom!) who enter the Big Whopper Radio contest to realize their dreams of making it to the big time. Hilarious heartaches ensue! Featuring doo-wop favorites like Earth Angel, Unchained Melody, Only You, and many more, LIFE COULD BE A DREAM will leave you laughing, singing and cheering - let's hear it for the boys!
