Stage Door Inc. opens its 2014 season with Spamalot, a musical comedy "lovingly ripped off from" the 1975 comedy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." It tells the story of the King Arthur legend in a delightfully irreverent, highly historically inaccurate, hilarious way.

In a tribute to the film, only six actors are used to portray the majority of characters in the show. With musical numbers such as "You Can't Succeed on Broadway" and "The Fish Schlapping Song," it's a typicAl Monty Python production.

Spamalot will be followed by The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Beauty and the Beast, A Streetcar Named Desire, Aladdin, Jr., Spring Awakening, Evil Dead: The Musical, and A Christmas Story.

Stage Door Inc., a local community theatre located inside the Pasadena Town Square Mall, has been voted Best Family Entertainment Venue in Pasadena for the last two years in a row by the Pasadena Citizen readers.

Spamalot opens Friday, January 17th and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 3:00pm weekends through February 9th. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors or students with ID. Group rates are available for all performances. Reserve seats by phone at (832) 582-7606 or online at www.stagedoorinc.com.
