Photo Flash: Sneak Peek at A. D. Players' ARSENIC AND OLD LACE

A. D. Players will open its 47th MainStage season with the classic dark comedy Arsenic and Old Lace by Josephy Kesselring, September 6th. The show will preview September 4th and 5th and run through October 6th. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast below!

Originally written as a drama, Arsenic and Old Laceturned out to be a madcap dark comedy that is as funny as it is famous today. The main characters are the elderlyBrewster sisters and town darlings, but they have a littlesecret. Their nephew Mortimer discovers they are'helping' lonely gentlemen boarders to early graves by way ofhomemade, arsenic-laced wine. Added to the mix is his brother who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, a criminal on the run, and the girl Mortimer wants to marry.

The cast of Arsenic and Old Lace includes A. D. Players' resident actors Kevin Dean as Mortimer, Patty Tuel Bailey as Abby Brewster, Marty Blair as Jonathan Brewster, Stephen Hurst as Teddy Brewster, Craig Griffin as the Rev. Dr. Harper and Lt. Rooney, Jason Hatcher as Officer Brophy, and Chip Simmons as Mr. Gibbs, Officer O'Hara, and Mr. Witherspoon. Guest artists include Stephanie Bradow as Martha Brewster, Julie Fontenot as Elaine Harper, and Marion Arthur Kirby as Dr. Einstein.

Arsenic and Old Lace features scenic design by Mark A. Lewis, lighting design by Andrew Vance, properties design by Trisha Wise, sound design by Rebecca Johnson-Edgerly, and costume design by Patty Tuel Bailey. Arsenic and Old Lace is directed by guest director Joey Watkins.

Tickets to Arsenic and Old Lace may be purchased online at www.adplayers.org, at A. D. Players' Box Office, 2710 W. Alabama, or by calling 713-526-2721. Ticket prices range from $15 for Previews to $32 - $41 for single tickets. Group, student, and senior discounts are available.
