Musical Mystery SONG OF SINGAPORE Now at COM Community Theatre

Musical Mystery SONG OF SINGAPORE Now at COM Community Theatre ImageEnjoy a wacky parody of classic movies - full of music and intrigue - with "Song of Singapore" July 13-30 at College of the Mainland Community Theatre. For tickets, visit www.com.edu/theatre.

In this comedy, stolen jewels, a forgetful singer and a mystery collide in a bar in Singapore circa 1941. With a live on-stage swing band that sizzles, music spins from Andrews Sisters close-harmony to scat to gospel with just enough of an original twist to deliver a hilarious comic punch!

"We've rounded up the finest musicians in the region, and as if that isn't impressive enough, the band's musical solos are all jazz improv," said director H. Russ Brown. "This show is a love note to that bygone and much-beloved era. We present a swing jazz music and comedy musical theatre piece that we hope will whisk you back to those days when the band played on."

Actors are W. Ryan Frenk (Houston), Zack Varela (Houston) and Genine Bradley (Houston), plus COM theatre majors Nicholas Mora, Max Bailey, AuBen Brown and Zachary Dockal.

The COM Academic Theatre Program nurtures outstanding young, creative talent through rigorous training, education and experience working alongside the outstanding professional actors, designers and guest directors already at work on the COM stage.

Since 1972, COM Community Theatre has presented over 228 productions including children's theatre, concerts and workshops with attendance of more than a quarter of a million people. The theatre has been recognized as one of America's leading community theatres, setting high production standards and developing one of this country's most innovative programs.
