Main Street Theater Presents BUSYTOWN 10/2-23

Richard Scarry's wonderful world is coming to Main Street Theater! From Scarry's book What Do People Do All Day, this musical version, Busytown, will play Saturdays at 1pm and 4pm from October 2 - 23. Performances are at Main Street Theater-Chelsea Market, 4617 Montrose Boulevard in the Museum District. Ticket prices for public performances are $12 and $14. Tickets are on sale in person at the Main Street Theater Box Office at 2540 Times Blvd. in Rice Village, via phone at 713.524.6706 or online at mainstreettheater.com. Group rates are available. No children under 3 are admitted in the theater (including sleeping babies).

About Busytown
Everyone has an important job to do in the hustle and bustle of Richard Scarry's Busytown. Grocer Cat sells fresh food, Alfalfa and Pig run a farm, and Dr. Lion and his nurse make sure everyone is healthy. There will be lots of giggles and squeals as our youngest audience members meet the citizens of this imaginative world and learn what it means to be part of a community.
Recommended for Pre-Kindergarten and up.

About Author Richard Scarry

Richard Scarry remains a beloved children's author and illustrator. He published over 300 books, and over 100 million copies of his books have been sold worldwide. Many of his books have been made into animated videos, animated films, and animated series, including the currently running Busytown Mysteries series running on CBS on Saturday mornings!

Mr. Scarry passed away in 1994. He was 74.

Busytown Around Town
Tuesday, Sept. 28, MST will be at the Chick-fil-A @ 2920/Kuykendahl for Family Night from 6 - 8pm. Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7pm, MST will be performing scenes from the show at the ARTernative Festival in Sugar Land.
About the Production
Meghan C. Hakes directs Busytown after directing last season's Click, Clack Moo: Cows That Type at Main Street. Adam Stout is the music director. The cast includes Rebecca Cansler, Jacqueline Grady, Mitchell Greco, Jessica Knapp, Joey Melcher, and Caroline Menefee.
The design team includes Jodi Bobrovsky (set design), Daniel Polk (lighting design), Macy Perrone (costume design), Andrew Harper (sound design), and Richard Solis (properties design). Caroline Scott is the Production Stage Manager.

Since 1975, Main Street Theater has produced high quality professional theater for audiences of all ages through its MainStage productions and its Theater for Youth. The Main Street Theater Kids On Stage program offers performing arts classes and camps for children 5 years to 14 years of age. The organization produces plays at two locations, 2540 Times Boulevard in Rice Village and 4617 Montrose Boulevard at Chelsea Market.
Main Street Theater is a member of the Fresh Arts Coalition, a collaboration of 25 arts organizations that work collectively to raise awareness of the size and diversity of the arts in Houston, and a constituent of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for not-for-profit theaters. Main Street Theater offers a lively year-round repertory of classic and contemporary plays for audiences of all ages and provides a much-needed showcase for Houston theater professionals. Main Street Theater is also a member of Actors' Equity Association and of ASSITEJ, the world theatre network of theatre for children and young people.
