Houston's Frenetic Theater Presents Re-Imagined Production of EQUUS, Now thru 8/2

By:

Houstonian director Matthew C. Logan is bringing Peter Shaffer's classic play Equus to Houston's Frenetic Theater in a bold new production for two weeks only. Directed by award-winning Houstonian director Matthew C. Logan (recently Assistant Director on the TUTS production of Hands on a Hardbody) the show will run between today 24th July and 2nd August 2014 at Frenetic Theater, Houston.

An explosive play that in its original staged version took critics and audiences by storm, Equus is Peter Shaffer's remarkable exploration of the way modern society has destroyed our ability to feel passion. Alan Strang is a disturbed youth whose dangerous obsession with horses leads him to an unspeakable act of violence. As psychiatrist Martin Dysart struggles to understand the motivation for Alan's brutality, he is increasingly drawn into Alan's web and eventually forced to question his own sanity. Equus continues to prove to be a timeless classic and a cornerstone of contemporary drama that delves into the darkest recesses of human existence.

Matthew C. Logan is an award-winning director, who most recently worked as Assistant Director on the TUTS production of Hands on a Hardbody. Having staged works at many of Houston's most recognized theatres, Matthew's work has been seen by an extensive, multi-cultural audience. His production of Equus aims to restore the vitality and power of the original.

The company includes Houston theatre regular Kevin Daugherty (recently seen at Theatre Southwest as Alan Turing in Breaking the Code), British actor Ed Theakston (trained at London's East 15 Acting School) along with a superb, diverse cast of actors from across the country.

Tickets are available to purchase now! For more information, to see exclusive glimpses of the rehearsal process and to buy tickets please visit www.equusinhouston.com.

"Equus" is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
