Da Camera's 2017-18 jazz series continues with Songs of Freedom: A Tribute to Abbey Lincoln, Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone. This moving tribute features three adventurous vocalists of today: René Marie, Theo Bleckmann and Alicia Olatuja. Grammy Award-winning drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. is the music director of the ambitious program, which was first presented at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani makes his first appearance with Da Camera in this solo recital. His wide-ranging program includes an early work for harpsichord by Renaissance composer William Byrd; Toru Takemitsu's Rain Dreaming; J.S. Bach's Toccata in F#-minor, BWV 910; and a new arrangement by Esfahani of Steve Reich's Piano Phase.

Da Camera's concerts feature small ensembles performing chamber music, jazz, early music and contemporary music. A vital institution in the world of chamber music, Da Camera is a source of innovative programming, notably Artistic and General Director Sarah Rothenberg's programs connecting chamber music with literature and the visual arts. Da Camera is nationally acclaimed for thought-provoking chamber music programming, as well as a jazz series with a unique balance between renowned performers and emerging artists.
