PENTHEUS: 20s-30s, African American, a young king of Thebes in SITI Company’s production of Euripides’ Bacchae. Fearing the spreading disorder of the cult of Dionysus, Pentheus imprisons Dionysus in order to suppress his/her influence. This misguided attempt to thwart the will of a god leads to catastrophe for Pentheus and his entire family.
All other roles have been cast.
The Viewpoints and the Suzuki Method of Actor Training are two methods of training used in building and staging SITI productions. It is through the dialogue between Suzuki and Viewpoints, these two distinct, yet complementary approaches to the art of acting, that the philosophy and technique of SITI Company is continually explored, revitalized and articulated.
Equity performers will be brought into the audition space in groups of ten. Members of SITI Company will teach auditioning performers rigorous exercises used in Viewpoints and Suzuki, and then evaluate actors’ performance. Please dress to move. Bring a pair of socks for Suzuki exercises, but be prepared to remove your socks and shoes for Viewpoints. Please bring a headshot and resume, stapled together
