Out of an abundance of caution, the producers have chosen to cancel this EPA for the safety of our members and everyone involved. These EPAs will not be rescheduled. They will be accepting video audition submissions in lieu of the EPAs. A separate notice for video submissions will be posted with submission information

APPOINTMENTS

For an appointment, e-mail epa@westonplayhouse.org. Appointments will be taken for March 30 first. If all appointment slots are not filled, the March 31auditions may be cancelled. Walk-ins welcome on March 30, beginning no later than 3:30PM. Bring headshot and resume, stapled together.

Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles in the upcoming season. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

Please Prepare a brief monologue OR a brief song, OR a 1 minute monologue and 16 bars of a song. Total audition time not to exceed 2 minutes. Bring picture and resume.

CHARLIE PRICE: Late twenties. A bit confused, a bit unfocused, a hero hiding under a victim’s mantle. Rock belt. C3-B4
YOUNG CHARLIE: This is our lead as a seven-year-old boy. Lost, quiet, reflective. He works in the opening and closing sequences.
LOLA/SIMON: Early thirties. A prize fighter’s physique draped in satin. A heterosexual drag queen with a killer voice and winning ways. C3-B4 (with one top C)
YOUNG LOLA/SIMON: This is LOLA as a ten-year-old boy who already knows he’s destined to wear high heels.
NICOLA: Twenties. CHARLIE’s long-term girlfriend. Driven, uncompromising. Pop voice. B3–F5
LAUREN: Twenties. Earnest, warm, and strong working-class girl. Belt and pop. B3–F5
DON: LOLA’s nemesis. Burly bear of a factory worker who is very protective of his sense of masculinity. C3-F4
PAT: Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed. LOLA’s love interest. B3–F5
TRISH: Factory worker with a husband and kids to worry over. B3–D5
GEORGE: Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved. C3-F4
THE ANGELS: These are the drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB. The ain’t a job for no wallflowers. Varying vocal ranges—three sing to C ?5 and three sing to A4
MR. PRICE: CHARLIE’s father in the opening and closing sequences. The stalwart owner of the family factory. B2–G4
SIMON SR.: LOLA’s father. An unforgiving tower of anger who later becomes a vulnerable man in his old age.
HARRY: A contemporary of CHARLIE’s but his opposite. HARRY is successful, self-aware, and confident. E3-C4
RICHARD BAILEY: NICOLA’s boss. A successful businessman who likes to look the part.

TRUVY (30s-40s) Big-hearted Truvy owns the beauty shop that is the center of this little world. She is intelligent, quick-witted and always the center of the storm who fights ferociously for those she loves.

ANNELLE (20s) Recently married and more recently single, Annelle is a child who has had to grow up too fast. She is on the search for a place to call home. Like the rest of the women in Truvy’s salon, she is whip smart and fiercely generous.
CLAIREE (60s-70s) Recently widowed, Clairee is the former first lady of Chinquapin and she is used to having things her way. She loves her friends dearly and isn’t afraid to tell the truth, even when the truth hurts. A bit of a jokester, Clairee is always ready to deploy her quick wit to help someone get by.
OUISER (60s-70s) Chinquapin’s resident wealthy curmudgeon. Ouiser claims to like no one and is in endless wars with any number of the town’s residents. Beneath the surface, she loves her friends and is always on the hunt for companionship. She is the straight man to Clairee’s comedian.
M’LYNN (50s) M’Lynn is one of the town’s de-facto leaders. A psychologist who runs the town’s Guidance Center, she is a natural born caretaker. As a mother, she is the proverbial hen who wants to keep all her chicks in line and will do anything to keep them healthy and whole.
SHELBY (20s-30s) With A reputation as the prettiest girl in town and AN abiding love for the color pink, Shelby at first glance might seem to be a shrinking violet. In fact, she is a ferocious fighter with a razor sharp tongue who lets nothing stand in her way. A trained nurse and, later, a working mother, Shelby strives to be the woman who has it all.
