Show Synopsis:
When an elevator crashes in a major city, nine lives intersect in surprising ways—through love and sex, poetry and dentistry, in offices, homes, and hotel rooms. By turns comic and profound, Hope And Gravity traces the barely perceivable threads that connect us all.

ACTOR 1 (man, 40s-50s) Marty, Douglas: Marty is a good-natured, chatty elevator repairman who enjoys his job and takes it seriously. Married to Nan. Douglas is a professor and blocked poet with a sense of humor. After an elevator accident he walks with a cane and struggles with memory loss.

ACTOR 2 (man, late 30s-early 40s) Peter, Hal: Peter is a dentist and a pathological liar. Lustful and manipulative. Having an affair with Nan but ends up with Barb. Hal is a neurotic assistant principal who believes in signs. Married to Tanya, who is struggling to get pregnant.

ACTOR 3 (woman, late 30s-early 40s) Tanya, Nan: Tanya is an actuary. Paranoid and a bit of a control-freak. Struggling to get pregnant. Nan is the nurse at a middle school. Patient, straight-forward, caring. She is married to Marty but having an affair with Peter. She wants to “be good” and end her affair.

ACTOR 5 (woman, 20s) Jill, Barb: Jill is a graduate student studying creative writing. Honest, sometimes blunt but caring. Marries Steve. Barb is the secretary for the assistant principal at a middle school (Hal). Knows what she wants. Longs for financial security so she can quit her job. Has an irrational fear of dentists.

The following role has been CAST:

ACTOR 4 (man, 20s) Steve: Steve is a graduate student studying creative writing who is struggling creatively, personally and financially. Engaged to Barb but later married to Jill. THIS ROLE IS CAST
