Synopsis: In the heat of late summer 1892, Andrew Borden and his wife were found murdered in their house. The main suspect in the murders was Andrew’s youngest daughter from a previous marriage, Lizzie Borden. Using a searing rock score, and based on historical record, this thrilling all-female rock musical explores the heated days leading up to the murder and Lizzie’s controversial acquittal of all charges.

Seeking:

Lizzie Borden: late 20s-30s; rock mezzo, strong high belt (F#3-F#5, belt to A5 if possible); the younger daughter of the Borden household, accused of her father and stepmother's axe murders; damaged and twisted, can turn on a dime from fragile, broken, vulnerable, obedient to conniving, sinister, furious, and terrifying.

Alice Russell: late 20s-30s: rock soprano lyric/strong mix/belt (G3-A5); Lizzie’s next door neighbor who visits frequently; seductive and secretive, with a maternal tenderness: the sensuous mother-sister-lover which Lizzie craves.

Emma Borden: 30s-40s; rock alto/mezzo belt (F#3-D5); Lizzie’s older sister and protector; resentful of their father’s marriage to his second wife; bitter, outspoken, and desperately sad; dripping her own hatreds into Lizzie’s ears, stoking the fires of her rage.

Bridget Sullivan: 20s-40s; rock contralto/alto (F3-Eb5) the Borden family maid; Irish; speaks and sings in dialect; put upon, resentful towards the Borden family; clever with a dark, killer sense of humor; a rock and roll nihilist; not much gets past her.

Danny: male, white, early to mid-40s; five years at New York Department of Sanitation; mansplaining, dad jokes, and run-of-the-mill machismo thinly masks a profound desire to love and be loved.
