BREAKDOWN

Synopsis:
Steven is on top of the world: he’s married, has good friends, and is steps away from his dream job running one of the hottest theaters in the country. He also happens to be an alcoholic spinning out of control. Follow his life from first sip to first love, critical hit to critical care, all the way to rock bottom, where he carves an unusual path to sobriety. The White Chip is a wry and wild theatrical journey to recovery.

SEEKING:
STEVEN – 30’s, male. A theatre professional who guides the audience on a journey through his struggle with alcoholism with a dark sense of humor and brutal honesty. One part self-effacing, one part cocky, all parts likable. Must have comedic chops. Awkward artist whose brain runs at 60 MPH, must be able to carry the majority of the dialogue and journey. Helpful if not traditionally attractive.

Actor #1– 40s plus, female. Charming utility player who will play multiple one line characters that are mainly communicated thru physicality and voice. In addition to directly addressing the audience, actress must play a variety of roles, including Sean’s mother, a people pleaser who did not get the son she prayed for, who is recovering from alcoholism and the death of her husband; Sean’s patient yet distant wife; and Sean’s supportive and loyal girlfriend. Skill with accents, versatility, and a strong sense of humor are essential.

Actor #2 – 30’s-40’s, male. Charming utility player who will play multiple one line characters that are mainly communicated thru physicality and voice. In addition to directly addressing the audience, actor must play a variety of roles, including Sean’s father, who is dying from Parkinson’s; Sean’s concerned but professionally distant boss; and a tough yet caring detox counselor. Skill with accents, versatility, and a strong sense of humor are essential. Mainly plays Britt – a former cocaine addict/air force vet turned addiction specialist and preacher – he’s always preaching, and within seconds you realize this is his true calling. A strong sense of humor are essential.
