Indicate in the subject line: SAMANTHA BROWN / AEA Self Submission

PLOT NOTE: It is dawn. Samantha Brown, a high school valedictorian, has decided to skip out on freshman year at Columbia University in favor of driving into the unknown. She sits in her car with her bags packed, but she can’t turn the key in the ignition. She is filled with doubts. As the defining moments of her senior year flash through her mind, Samantha has to come to terms with her parents’ expectations, her first love, and a lost friendship before she can turn the key in the ignition and make the first decision of her adult life.

SEEKING:

Kelly:

Female, any ethnicity, to play 19. Samantha’s best friend. She is a year older than Sam and tells it like it is. She’s glamorous and takes risks in both fashion and life. She is fiercely intelligent but doesn’t know it. Plays several roles throughout, so must be an excellent character actress (a la Amy Poehler). Seeking an attractive, magnetic actress with great comic skills. Must have a large, dynamic, flexible pop/rock voice. Belts to a G (sustained belt around D and E). PRINCIPAL

Adam:

Male, any ethnicity, to play early 20s. Samantha’s slightly older boyfriend. Adam has already graduated from high school and works at his dad’s tire shop. He has the winning personality and charm that let him sail through high school without actually doing well. He is beautiful in Sam's eyes (but not necessarily to the rest of us). Must have an excellent pop-tenor voice to a sustained A-flat (pops up to B-flat, not sustained). PRINCIPAL
