Seeking Three A.E.A. Guest Artist contracts available, to be cast from among the following roles: MARIA, CAPTAIN VON TRAPP, MAX, MOTHER ABBESS.
Preparation Bring sheet music in proper key, accompanist provided. Musical theatre only, no pop. No recorded music, or a capella please.

April 30, Hillcrest Center for the Arts (403 W. Hillcrest, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360): 10AM: Children’s Call; 2PM-7PM: Principal & Singing Appointments. May 3, Hillcrest Center for the Arts:5PM Children’s Call; 7PM-11PM: Principal & Singing Appointments. SEEKING: MARIA RANIER (to play 20's), unique, passionate, loves children and nature, very devout, but independent spirited. A confident veneer shields her loneliness and warmth. Must sing very well (Mezzo Low D-G), and move well. Guitar skills a plus. CAPTAIN VON TRAPP (late 30's to late 40's), dashing and charismatic, stern and military manner, but ruefully shaded by the loss of his wife. A confident veneer shields his loneliness and warmth. Must sing (Baritone Low F#-G) move, and display a minimum of skills on acoustic guitar. MOTHER ABBESS (40's to 60's), bringing real-world wisdom to her position; warm, with a sense of humor. Must sing very well (Legit voice, Soprano B-Ab). SISTER BERTHA, SISTER MARGARETTA, SISTER SOPHIA, (late 20’s to 40’s) various personalities, double in Ensemble. Must sing well, in the legit/Mezzo/Soprano family. FRAU SCHMIDT (40's to 60's) the Captain's housekeeper, stern at times, merely dour in others. Doubles in Ensemble. ELSA SCHRAEDER (late 30's to early 40's) handsome, wealthy, cosmopolitan, very sophisticated, also a bit jaded. Must sing (Mezzo D-F). MAX DETWEILER (late 30's to early 60's) dapper entrepreneur, very sophisticated friend to the captain, loves the good life, an exuberant personality. Singing a plus (Tenor D-F). ROLF (to play age 17) young, Aryan, athletic and intense, must sing well and dance very well. FRANZ (middle-aged), the von Trapp butler. Seemingly detached. Non-singing role. HERR ZELLER (middle-aged) small and unpleasant, a Nazi sympathizer who puts pressure on the Captain to join The Third Reich. Non-singing role. BARON ELBERFELD (middle-aged) the Captain's friend and cut from the same cloth, a strong nationalist from proud nobility. Non-singing role. ADMIRAL VON SCHREIBER (middle-aged) a Nazi Admiral, imposing, powerful authoritarian. Non-singing role. LIESL (to play age 16), part child and part adult. Beautiful and bright, rebellious but capable of respect and support. Must sing well (Soprano B-G) and dance very well. THE CHILDREN: FRIEDRICH (to play age 14), oldest boy, aspires to be the man of the house; LOUISA (to play age 13), naughty practical joker; KURT (to play age 10), younger son, a bit of a show-off; BRIGITTA (to play age 9), always speaks her mind; MARTA (to play age 7), sweet and withdrawn; GRETL (to play age 5), the youngest, and most in need of a mother. All CHILDREN must sing well (B-G), harmonize, and move well. Guitar playing a plus. FEMALE SINGERS, all ages, to play nuns, party guests, and concert contestants. Must sing well (Legit, all voice types), and move. MALES, all ages, to play party guests, concert contestants, and Nazi soldiers. Singing and movement a plus. There is pay for non-union performers. Diversity is encouraged. Non-union please limit song to 1 minute. Children (except Liesl) will be auditioned in groups during children’s calls, and taught material from the show.
