Seeking (both roles are available):

Cathy:

African American woman, 25-30. Cathy is a very attractive performer with a struggling career. She is Catholic. Innocent, honest, trusting and glowing with happiness after her first date with Jamie. She is full of ambition and vigor, but soon becomes jaded by the business when she is turned down by a theatrical agent. Like Jamie, Cathy is a clever, artistic individual who falls in love and gets married without realizing her ultimate goals and motivations, and is unable and unwilling to express these goals and motivations to Jamie. This leads to complications in her marriage. Actress should be able to play powerful emotions with equally nuanced subtlety. Should have amazing vocal ability (mezzo/belter, F3 (below middle C) to D#5 (a bit more than one octave above middle C)).

Jamie:
Caucasian Jewish American man, 25-30. Jamie is a writer whose career soon takes off with the publication of his first book. He’s funny, full of life, full of himself, and full of his passion for his work. Handsome. Strays in his marriage as his career soars. Ambitious, passionate and driven. Appears more sophisticated than Cathy, but only because he is willing to take risks in a way she is not. Like Cathy, Jamie is a clever, artistic individual who falls in love and gets married without realizing his ultimate goals and motivations, and is unable and unwilling to express these goals and motivations to Cathy. This leads to complications in his marriage. Actor playing Jamie must be able to handle complicated musical structures. Strong tenor, A2 (a bit more than one octave below middle C) to Bb4 (above middle C).
