AUDITION DATE

9am auditions begin for Children. 10:30am auditions begin for Adults There will be a 15 min break TBD

SEEKING

Equity actor/singers for various roles. Everyone must sing.

Audition Times:
Children - 9am to 10:30am.
Adults - 10:30am to 5:45pm (short break approximately 1pm)

PREPARATION

Children, no preparation necessary.

Adults Prepare a brief song in the style of the show. Bring picture and resume. Some may be asked to come back and dance the next day. Please note that ALL interested in auditioning, must attend the initial singing call.
If called back to dance, please bring appropriate attire and shoes for a ballet combination.

BREAKDOWN

Asian, Southeast Asian / Pacific Islander Actors are strongly encouraged to audition.

KING OF SIAM: Male-identifying, early 40s-late 50s. Character is Siamese; A powerful and elegant leader, struggling to bring Siam into the modern era without losing control of traditions and power. Baritone.

LADY THIANG: Female-identifying, early 40s-mid 50s. Character is Siamese; Head wife of the King and mother of the Crown Prince. Steady influence in the court. Strong, discreet, and loving. Alto/Second Soprano.

LUN THA: Male-identifying, mid-late 20s. Character is Burmese; Emissary to the Prince of Burma, courageous yet doomed lover of Tuptim. Frustrated by his powerlessness. Baritone/tenor.

ANNA LEONOWENS:
Female-identifying, early 30s-mid 40s. Character is Caucasian; An English schoolteacher who is intelligent, poised, strong-willed and cultured. Her husband died leaving her with a young son. She is a well-educated and patient teacher and employed to teach the children of the King. She expresses her opinions in a polite but firm manner. Soprano/Mezzo.

TUPTIM: Female-identifying, early-mid 20s. Character is Burmese; A gift to the King from the Prince of Burma, and doomed lover of Lun Tha. Beautiful, daring, and rebellious. Soprano.

KRALAHOME: Male-identifying, late 30s- late 40s. Character is Siamese; Right-hand man to, and advisor of, The King. A strong traditionalist. Imposing, professional, and deeply loyal. PRINCIPAL. She expresses her opinions in a polite but firm manner.

PRINCE CHULALONGKORN: Male-identifying, 14-16 years old. Character is Siamese; Crown Prince of Siam and one of Anna’s most vocal and opinionated students. Proud and admiring of the King. Tenor.

LOUIS LEONOWENS: Male-identifying, 10-15 years old; Character is Caucasian; Anna’s Son. Alto/Tenor.

SINGING ENSEMBLE: Early 20s-early 40s. Characters are Siamese and Burmese. The female-identifying ensemble members will make up the the Royal Wives, locals in Anna's welcome party, and royal guests in The Small House of Uncle Tom's Cabin ballet sequence. The male-identifying ensemble members will make up the deckhands, Guards, Priests, etc. Various featured roles will also come from the ensemble. All must be excellent singers and actors and strong movers.

DANCE ENSEMBLE: Early 20s-early 40s. Characters are Siamese and Burmese. The female-identifying ensemble will make up the the Royal Wives, locals in Anna's welcome party, and featured characters/dancers (including Eliza, Simon of Legree, and Buddha) in The Small House of Uncle Tom's Cabin ballet sequence. The male-identifying will make up the deckhands, Guards, Priests, and featured characters in The Small House of Uncle Tom's Cabin ballet sequence. Various featured roles will also come from the ensemble. All must be excellent dancers with classical ballet technique and strong singers and actors.

CHILDREN: Male and female-identifying; 5 to 16 years old; Characters are Siamese and Burmese. Children of the King of Siam and the Royal wives.
