Here's how The Rep describes the play:

“In remote Pakistan, Nick Bright awaits his fate. A highly successful player at a major investment bank, Nick is kidnapped by an Islamic militant group, but with no one negotiating for his release, the prisoner must take matters into his own hands. Full of questionable alliances and moral bargaining, this world premiere is a chilling examination of how far we will go to survive and the consequences of the choices we make.”

Seeking:

Nick:

50s, American, Caucasian male. Very successful American financier, vital, magnetic, quite used to being the smartest man in the room and getting what he wants.

Bashir:

30s, Pakistani who was born in Britain. Speaks English with a working class British accent; his native language is Punjabi. He now runs an Islamic insurgent group in Karachi that has kidnapped Nick. Sinewy, confident, a barracuda. He can be quite gentlemanly or cruel, as required.

He views the West, and Nick, with a mixture of contempt and curiosity.
