BREAKDOWN

Constance Middleton (Female, 30’s to 40’s, any ethnicity) – Quick witted and appealing. Wears her elevated class and station with ease. Bone-funny with impeccable timing. Can play it cool but frequently surprises those around her.

John Middleton (Male, 40’s, any ethnicity) – Constance’s husband, Maria-Louise’s lover. Charming and winningly confident, but regresses and becomes petulant when caught in his transgressions.

Bernard Kersal (Male, 40’s, any ethnicity) – Warm and affable. A man who has been pining after Constance’s love for over 15 years. Wears his vulnerability on his sleeve.

Mrs. Culver (Female, 55-70’s any ethnicity) – Constance’s mother. Crisp and on the haughty-side. Believes in old-fashioned manners and not shy about looking down her nose at something/someone that seems askew.

Martha Culver (Female, 20’s-30’s, any ethnicity) – Constance’s younger spinster sister. Spunky and direct. Has a loud and feisty opinion she doesn’t mind sharing. Still living at home, she has become the brunt of her mother’s jabs for being lesser than Constance.

Barbara Fawcett (Female, 30’s-40’s, woman of color) – Constance’s friend and later business partner. Practical, wise and grounded.
