SEEKING:

Huckleberry Finn:

Male, 18+ young adult actor to play pre-teen age. Short stature preferred. Athletic, rough and tumble, a “boy’s boy,” son of a drunk who has abandoned his son, clever, resourceful, uneducated in terms of society, outcast to community, though admired by children. This actor will most likely play a “girl” in school room scene. Also plays Townsperson and Child. All actors must be physically agile and collaborative with a spirit of play as they move between multiple characters and narrative voice over.

Joe Harper:

Male, 18+ to play pre-teen age. Joe is the best friend to Tom, complies with society, goes to school and church, but loves adventure and eager to “play” and be part of his friend’s adventure; loyal, and connected to his family. Also plays Defense Attorney: Outsider, but astute, knew from the beginning that something wasn’t right about the case, patient with Tom’s testimony and aware he has a reputation for “telling tales,” he must be the steady anchor for the testimony of a child to be the truth; and Accomplice: a man who comes and goes under the radar of the town, has worked with Injun Joe before, but eager to just get the money and disappear. All actors must be physically agile and collaborative with a spirit of play as they move between multiple characters and narrative voice over.

Sid Sawyer:

Male, 18+ to play pre-teen age. Sid is a schoolmate of Tom’s, a bit prissy, goody-goody, loves to see Tom in trouble, proper, bookworm, has a bit of a mean streak towards Tom, jealous of Tom’s ability to always have adventures and friends. Also plays Doc Robinson: respected, well educated, dislikes the fact that he has to be in the company of and employ people like Muff Potter and Injun Joe for gravedigging, etc; and Prosecuting Attorney: outsider, confident, a bit of a blowhard, certain he has this case wrapped up. All actors must be physically agile and collaborative with a spirit of play as they move between multiple characters and narrative voice over.
