This audition will be run on a first come, first served basis beginning on the morning of the audition. The space will open at 9:00 AM.

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Savage Wonder’s Staged Reading 2026 Season (See breakdown). Staged readings take place one day per week for each show for 4 consecutive weeks. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a comedic monologue. Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together. Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions.

SYNOPSIS: A new adaptation of the classic Kafka story which tells the story of Josef K, who is arrested and prosecuted for a crime, though that crime is never revealed.

SEEKING:


A company of 5 actors to play the following roles:
JOSEPH K: Chief Clerk of a bank. Ambitious, shrewd, and on the fast track to success. More competent than kind. Arrested one morning for no reason.
FRAULEIN BURSTNER: A boarder in the same house as Joseph K. She lets him kiss her one night but then rebuffs his advances.
FRAU GRUBACH: Runs the lodging house where Joseph lives and holds him in high regard.
UNCLE KARL: Joseph’s uncle and former guardian.
HULD: Joseph’s ineffective lawyer
LENI: Huld’s nurse who soon becomes Joseph’s lover.
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Joseph’s rival at the bank.
BLOCK: A tradesman and another accused man and client of Huld.
TITORELLI: A Court Painter. Offers help to Joseph about how the court works.

SYNOPSIS: In this version of Hamlet, a lot of the characters turn out to be women in disguise. They realize if they don't step in, the whole thing is going to end in tragedy. With women now in charge, it's Shakespeare's famous play, but funnier and less murder-y.

HORATIA: Late Teens-Early 20s, Disguises herself as Horatio. Bookish, nerdy, stuffy. Likes Hamlet.
GERTRUDE: 40s-50s, Hamlet’s mom. Overbearing, embarrassing.
OPHELIA: Late Teens-Early 20s, Polonius’ daughter. Increasingly feisty.
FIRST PLAYER: Runs a troupe of actors.
FIRST GRAVEDIGGER: Digs graves. It’s a living.
FORTINBRAS: Late Teens-Early 20s, Prince of Norway. Sheepish.
GHOST: 40s-60s, The Ghost of Hamlet’s father.
CLAUDIUS: 40s-60s, The current King. Not very bright. Talks like a 1920's gangster.
LAERTES: Late Teens-Early 20s, Ophelia’s brother, Polonius’ son. Kind of a hot-head.
POLONIUS: 40s-60s Advisor to the King. Ophelia and Laertes’ father. An overconfident fool.
HAMLET: Late Teens-Early 20s, Prince of Denmark. Nice, but a little out of his depth.
ROSENCRANTZ: Late Teens-Early 20s, School Friend of Hamlet
