PREPARATION

Please bring a headshot and resume. Please have one season appropriate piece of 32 bars prepared. Additional vocal material will be upon request. No leadsheets; no transpositions. An accompanist will be provided. Songs from the current season are fine. www.stagesstlouis.org

  • Harry Bright: Cultured British ex-lover of Donna and possible father to Sophie; mid to late 40s. Slightly tentative, but anxious to regain a free-loving past. Should sing and move well. RP dialect a plus. Tenor/Bari-Tenor.
  • Bill Austin: Masculine and athletic Australian ex-lover of Donna and possible father to Sophie; mid to late 40s. Free-spirited and fun-loving. Should sing and move well. Australian dialect a plus. Tenor/Bari-Tenor.
  • Sky: Handsome and charismatic young leading man; mid 20s. Sophie's bridegroom. Intelligent, with a great sense of honesty and fair-play. Athletic build a plus. Pop rock Tenor/Bari-Tenor who moves well.

  • Rosie: Donna's friend and one-time band-mate; mid to late 40s. Sassy and fun-loving. Not afraid to speak her mind Seeking all ethnicities. Should sing and move well. Soprano with strong mix/belt.
  • Sophie Sheridan: Adorably innocent soon-to-be-bride; mid-20s. Feminine and girlish, she is eager to begin life as an adult. Should sing and dance well. Soprano.
  • Ali: Sassy and fun-loving female performer; mid-20s. One of Sophie's bridesmaids. Ethnic preferred. Must sing and dance well. Soprano.
  • Lisa: Athletic and energetic female performer; mid-20s. One of Sophie's bridesmaids. Smart and fun-loving. Should sing and dance well. Soprano.
  • Female Ensemble: Attractive and energetic female performers; 20s-40s. Must sing and dance well. Will understudy the above principals.

  • Curly McLain: Handsome and charismatic young leading man; mid 20s-30s. Easy-going, but eager to find his place in the world and to build a new life. Very masculine and in love with Laurey. Fight training and movement skills a plus. Bari-Tenor
  • Will Parker: Energetic and adorably off-center buddy to Curly; mid 20s-30s. Not too bright, he is charming athletic, and a bit of a show-off. Must dance and sing well. Tap and roping skills a plus. Bari-Tenor.
  • Jud Fry: Darkly troubled and malevolent farm hand; late 20s-30s. Intelligent and frustrated in his current life. Secretive and quiet, he could be strangely attractive if he cared to be. Athletic build a plus. Baritone.
  • Ali Hakim: Charmingly nefarious peddler of European or Middle-Eastern heritage; mid 30s. Fancies himself a ladies man; he is cheerfully glib, but a bit of a coward. Comic and dialect skills a plus. Should move well. Bari-Tenor.
  • Andrew Carnes: Rough and no-nonsense father to Ado Annie and the territory Judge; mid to late 40s. Must sing and move well. Baritone.
  • Cord Elam: Honest and well-respected territory Sheriff; mid to late 40s. Must sing and move well. Bari-Tenor.
  • Slim/Dream Curly: Athletic and intensely masculine dance double for Curly in featured Act I Dream Ballet; mid 20s-30s. Classical ballet and strong partnering skills a must. Vocal skills a plus

  • Ado Annie Carnes: Comically naïve and ultra-feminine farm-girl; mid 20s. Desperately in love with whichever man is nearest. Dance skills a plus. Mezzo-Soprano with strong mix.
  • Aunt Eller: ROLE IS CAST
  • Gertie Cummings: Obnoxious and entitled richest girl in town; mid 20s-early 30s. Flirtatious in the extreme, she is known to engage a piercing laugh when besting a rival. Laurey's frenemy. Must sing and move well. Soprano.
  • Dream Laurey: Romantic and vulnerable dance double for Laurey in featured Act I Dream Ballet; mid 20s. Classical ballet skills and strong partnering skills a must. Vocal skills a plus.
  • Female Ensemble: Attractive and energetic female performers; 20s-30s. Must sing and dance well. Classically trained singers with ballet training a plus. Will understudy the above Principal roles.

MADAGASCAR

  • Alex: Athletic male performer; late 20s-30s. Fun-loving and high energy, Alex is a young male lion and the “Elvis”-type star attraction of the New York City Zoo. Must sing and move well. Should be comfortable in all pop vocal styles. Tenor.
  • Marty: Quirky ethnic male performer; mid 20s-30s. Charmingly naive, impulsive, and wildly energetic, Marty is a zebra and Alex’s best buddy. Must sing and move well. Should be comfortable in all pop vocal styles. Tenor.
  • Melman: Lovable male performer; mid 20s-30s. Neurotic, sweet and kind, Melman is a giraffe who is a self-confessed nerd and perpetual hypochondriac. Must sing and move well. Tenor.
  • King Julien: Quirky male performer; mid-20s-late 30s. Intelligent, devious, high-strung, and wildly energetic, Julien is the self-appointed King of the lemurs. Mime/comedic skills a plus. Must sing and move well. Bari-Tenor.
  • Skipper: Energetic and imaginative male singer/dancer; 20s-30s. Plays multiple roles including Skipper, a savvy and street-wise penguin. Mime/comedic skills a plus. Tenor.
  • Gloria: Effervescent pop diva; mid to late 20s. Adorably sassy, yet maternal and loving, Gloria is a full-figured hip-hippo with the mind and soul of an adolescent teen girl. Prefer African American. Soprano with strong mix who moves well.
  • Maurice: Quirky female singer/dancer; 20s-late 30s. Plays multiple comedic features including Maurice, Julien’s lemur man-servant, who is intelligent, stiff, and a bit high-strung. Must sing and move well. Dialects and character voices a plus. Soprano.
  • Rico: Energetic and imaginative female singer/dancer; 20s-30s. Plays multiple roles including Rico, a mischievous penguin. Mime/comedic skills a plus. Mezzo Soprano.
  • Private: Energetic and imaginative female singer/dancer; 20s-30s. Plays multiple roles including Private, a mischievous penguin. Mime/comedic skills a plus. Soprano.
