10 AM – 6 PM 500 Eighth Avenue, 12th Floor

Lunch from 1 – 2. New York City

Please prepare a brief pop/rock song. Singing from the show is welcome. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Dance callbacks will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011.

Seeking (All roles are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted)):

Theatre’s casting note: “We are looking for a multi-talented ensemble of performers who sing, act, and dance with equal ability. ALL must move well or dance. Working well together as a group (especially the male quartet) is important, as is the ability to step forward and hold the stage alone. The cast breakdown below follows the basic description as was presented on Broadway with some of the songs on which they sing lead (original actor names are in parenthesis).”

Male 1 (Fred):

African American, 20s-40s. Solid and implacable. Bass. “You’re The Boss”, “Little Egypt”.

Male 2 (Ken):

African American, 20s-40s. A smoothie. Baritone. “Spanish Harlem”, “Loving You”, “Poison Ivy”.

Male 3 (Adrian):

African American, 20s-40s. Second tenor. “Stand By Me”, “Youngblood”, “Love Potion #9”.

Male 4 (Victor):

African American, 20s-40s. Comic bad boy. First tenor. “I (Who Have Nothing)”, “Searchin’”, “Treat Me Nice”.

Male 5 (Michael):

Caucasian, 20s-40s. Sexy and suave. Second tenor. “Jailhouse Rock”, “Kansas City”, “Ruby Baby”.

Woman 1(Delee):

Caucasian, 20s – early 30s. Innocent, but with a wild streak. The Shimmy Girl. (Big) belt, and mix. “Falling”, “Trouble”, “I’m A Woman”.

Woman 2 (Brenda):

African American, 20s-40s. Savvy, sexy and smart. (Big) belt, and mix. “Don Juan”, “Some Cats Know”, “I’m A Woman”.

Woman 3 (Pattie):

Caucasian, 20s-40s. Grounded. The Voice of Experience. (Big) belt, and mix. “Pearl’s A Singer”, “I Keep Forgettin’”, “Don’t”.

Woman 4 (BJ):

African American, 20s-50. Large in stature. Sexy, funny and heartbreaking. Huge Gospel voice, belt and mix. “Fools Fall In Love”, “Hound Dog”, “Saved”.

Theatre’s statement: “Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend. The above descriptions follow the original Broadway production as it was originally cast. We are not limiting ourselves to this original breakdown as far as ethnicity and race are concerned. All types will be considered for almost [all], if not all, roles.”
