Preparation
Please bring comfortable dance shoes (no heels) and tap shoes. You may be asked to sing a short vocal selection that shows off your range in a pop/R&B style. Please do not sing from the show. Please bring headshot and resume.

Breakdown
The show will be playing at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton from 07/19/13 to 08/04/13 and will then be transfering to Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center for one additional weekend from 08/09/13 to 08/11/13.

The roles of SHREK, LORD FARQUAAD, and DRAGON have been cast. Seeking understudies for Shrek and Lord Farquaad.
SHREK (seeking understudy only): 20’s-40’s: A big, gruff and grumpy ogre with a hero’s heart. This role requires an incredibly strong voice with a lot of stamina. Sings the majority of the show’s score through heavy makeup and prosthetics. Must be physically able to carry the weight of both the costume and show. Must be a strong and honest actor with a great sense of timing.
PRINCESS FIONA: 20’s-30’s: A beautiful storybook princess with a secret. Needs a strong voice, able to belt clearly and powerfully and be a strong and honest actor with a great sense of comedy. Must also be an excellent tap dancer.
DONKEY: 20’s-30’s: The loud-mouthed, wise-cracking hyper sidekick to Shrek. Physically demanding role, requires a lot of running, jumping, sliding, and kneeling. Strong baritone R&B voice. Strong actor with an excellent sense of comedy.
LORD FARQUAAD (seeking understudy only): 30’s: An evil ruler with a Napoleon complex. Must be very adept at comedy. VERY physically demanding role. Does the entire show (including dancing and singing) on his knees. Powerful and wide vocal range (including falsetto). Needs to be an excellent and honest actor with a strong sense of comedy.
ENSEMBLE: 20’s-40’s. The ensemble is made up of 8 men 7 women. Seeking an ensemble of all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities to play the Fairy Tale Creatures, people of Duloc, and other various inhabitants of this strange world. Ensemble includes all featured roles such as Pinocchio, Pied Piper, Thelonius, Gingy, etc. Seeking strong, vivid, dynamic and weird comic actors adept at comedy and character work, who have wide vocal ranges, and are good with pop/R&B styling. Most must be solid dancers (including tap). Puppetry and tap-dancing a plus (note MOST tracks must tap, but not all). All members of the ensemble play numerous roles in the show, including:
PINOCCHIO - Must have strong falsetto, acrobatics a plus
PIED PIPER - Strong tapper
THELONIOUS - Deep, brooding voice
BLUEBIRD - Female voice with a VERY high upper register)
GINGY - Strong character actress with a great pop sound
DULOC DANCERS - Strong jazz dancers not afraid to dance on their knees
YOUNG FIONA - 7 years old, must have good vocal ability and able to learn harmonies
TEEN FIONA - Seeking teen actress to play 14, good youthful pop sound
YOUNG SHREK/GRUMPY – 7 year old girl, must be able to emote clearly through heavy makeup and costuming, no singing required. Will play 7 years old but can be older.
OTHER ROLES TO COME FROM THE ENSEMBLE: Peter Pan, 3 Blind Mice, 3 Little Pigs, Big Bad Wolf, The 3 Bears, Ugly Duckling, Wicked Witch, Sugar Plum Fairy, Humpty Dumpty, and more.
