aged 30-40. Bobby is a New Yorker in love with musical theatre but is forced to work in a bank by his controlling mother. He has been engaged to Irene Roth for 5 years but doesn’t want to marry her. When he goes to Deadrock to escape Irene, he meets Polly, falls instantly in love with her and decides to put on a show to pay off the mortgage on her father’s theatre . In order to receive respect, he entices the Zangler folly girls to come to Deadrock and disguises himself as Bella Zangler, the established producer. Bobby is involved in 12 songs so needs to be a strong singer, actor, tapper and ballroom dancer for his “Fred and Ginger” type numbers with Polly.
aged 30-40. Polly is the only female living in Deadrock where she is the postmistress and “all American girl”. The men adore her but Lank Hawkins is always asking her to marry him. She tries not to show her love for Bobby when she discovers that he is from the bank which wants to foreclose on her father’s theatre. Then she falls for Bobby disguised as Zangler but naturally true love prevails and the pair finally end up together. Polly is involved in 9 musical numbers and needs to be a good tapper, soft shoe and ballroom dancer with a strong voice.
aged 35 – 55 with a Hungarian accent. Zangler is an established New York musical producer and theatre owner. He follows Tess, his dance director, to Deadrock despite being already married. Zangler enjoys a very funny drunk scene and duet with Bobby so needs to be a good character actor.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Director Alan M-L Wager
Choreographer Cheryl Swift
Musical Director Patrick Hoagland
Open July 19
Close August 4
aged 20-30 Belle is a young woman who feels trapped in her provincial small-minded town. She is a strong, intelligent, spirited and independent young woman. This role requires a strong singer who portrays innocence with her singing and speaking voice, yet is also commanding and comedic. Dance ability a plus.
aged 25-40. The Beast’s tortured soul is evident for all to see. There is anger and menace in The Beast’s appearance and behavior, but increasingly we see his soft and enduring side as he interacts with Belle and recaptures his humanity. It becomes clear that he is a loving, feeling, human being trapped within a hideous creature’s body. Must be a very strong singer, consummate actor with comedic ability. Should move well
aged 25-40 Although he is physically handsome, he is shallow, completely self-centered, not very bright, and thrives on attention.
JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT
Director/Choreographer Russell Garrett
Musical Director Jacob Carll

Male, 25-35 (High Tenor, Vocal Range Low A to High G). Eleventh son of Jacob and Jacob’s favorite. Looking for a strong actor with a confident but charming personality. Must move and sing very well.
Male, 35-45 (Baritone, Low B to High G#). Pharaoh is the most powerful man in Egypt, and considered a god on earth. He is in a strange psychological place and is desperately searching for the truth in his dreams. The character is in style an homage to Elvis. May double as brother.
THREE BROTHERS WITH SOLO SONGS
The three brother song solos 20-40 (One More Angel In Heaven, Benjamin’s Calypso, Canaan Days) are not specifically assigned to any specific brother at this time. Those wishing to be considered for those songs should sing them at the audition.
Director/Choreographer Teri Gibson
Musical Director Eric Thomas Johnson
Open August 30
Close September 15
Sister Mary Regina – 60’s (Range: B3-F5)
Mother Superior: a feisty, overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlights. Should move well and have excellent comic timing. Part requires some very physical humor.
Sister Mary Hubert – mid 50’s (Range: G3-F5)
Mistress of Novices: the second-in -command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. She exudes maternal wisdom to novices, but also likes to let loose. Should move well.
