THE GLASS MENAGERIE by Tennessee Williams

Amanda Wingfield:

Late 40s- 50s. A once glorious southern belle, an unstoppable fighter and social queen bee. Not to be deterred by outward perception or criticism. Loves her children.

Laura Wingfield:

20s. Compassionate, physically crippled, painfully shy. Tries to live up to her mother’s expectations.

Tom Wingfield:

20s. Torn between his responsibility to his family, and his desire to follow his dreams.

Jim O’Conner:

20s. Earnest, hopeful, ordinary young man.

INSPECTING CAROL by Daniel Sullivan

Sidney Carlton:

60s. A founding member of The Soapbox Playhouse. Kind but somewhat addled.

Dorothy Tree Hapgood:

60s. Sidney’s wife. English and unable to lose her accent.

Phil Hewlitt:

40s/50s. Obsessive, usually plays the intellectual character in any Soapbox production.

Walter E. Parsons:

Mid-20s/30s. African-American. Has taken up acting after a stint in the armed forces.

Luther Beatty:

12 year-old. Has been playing Tiny Tim two years too long. Extremely friendly.

Kevin Emory:

30s-50s. Nervous, in the impossible position of managing director. Afraid of Zorah.

M.J. (Mary Jane) McMann:

30s-50s. Stage manager. Sharp, ironic sense of humor; cracks herself up.

Betty Andrews:

40s/50s. An inspector for the National Endowment for the Arts. A forbidding appearance.

Wayne Wallace:

Mid 20s/30s. In search of a new career in acting but has no training and less talent. Affable, eager to please.

AMERICAN BUFFALO by David Mamet

James Watson:

Early/mid 20s, American, white, all confidence, arrogance.

Ray Gosling:

Mid/late 20s, white, British, awkward, endearing.

Francis Crick:

Early/mid 30s, British, white, very proper, not unkind, brash, a philosopher.

Caucasian, in his late twenties. Margaret’s boss.

Dottie:

Caucasian, in her sixties. Margaret’s landlord.

Jean:

Caucasian, about fifty. Margaret’s best friend.

Mike:

Caucasian, about fifty. A successful doctor from modest roots.

Kate:

African-American, in her thirties. Mike’s wife.

30. Bernard’s independent, pragmatic American fiancée. Skilled physical comedian.

Gretchen:

30. Bernard’s forceful, but thin-skinned German fiancée. Skilled physical comedian.
